About Auditions
What We Are Looking For & What To Expect
Auditions are our chance to get to know you - and your chance to get to know us!
The audition process takes place in the first weeks of the semester at the same time as every other a cappella group on campus. The full process, start to finish, should be limited to one full week unless something crazy happens.

FREQUENTY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQS)
Do I need any singing experience?
None at all! Our Talking Head (president) several years ago had no experience singing at all prior to joining the group. Don't be shy about auditioning!
What are my odds of getting in?
Pennchants don't have a cap on membership or a minimum quota. If we like you, that's all it takes. It's definitely easier than getting into Penn.
What is the time commitment like?
Compared to other groups on campus, about normal. We rehearse roughly 6 hours per week spread across 3 rehearsals.
What type of song should I prepare?
Anything that (1) you like and (2) fits well with your voice. Some of the 'Chants have sung Opera and Broadway, but generally we sing pop.
What is there beyond the singing?
Tours, music videos, fun memories, adventures through the great unknown, and everything else you could every ask for.
Who do I go to with more questions?
